Newspaper Headlines: Sack me if you can, Wike dares PDP

December 31 (DAILY SUNRISE) — Today’s national dailies have their cover pages filled with the report of the G5 governors of the People Democratic Party (PDP) and their alleged endorsement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC as their preferred 2023 presidential candidate.

Also featured on the cover page of Nigerian newspapers for today is the news of President Muhammadu Buhari and plans to sign the 2023 budget by Tuesday.

The Nation reports that Wike, the governor of Rivers State has dared the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sack him they can following alleged anti-party activities. The newspaper also reports that Ogun state government is planning to launch drones on Lagos-Ibadan expressway to checkmate kidnapping activities.
The Punch reports that PDP G-5 governors's divided interests will stall Tinubu, Obi's adoption as they group said it has not endorsed any presidential candidate yet. The paper also reports that the Senate president, Ahmed Lawan has hinted that President Buhari may sign the 2023 budget by Tuesday.
The Sun says that PDP elders have expressed fears that the alleged G5's deal with the All Progressive Party (APC) may jeopardise the party's chances of wining the presidential 2023 election. The newspaper reports that the Lagos State government has promised that the 4th Mainland bridge (4MB) will cost $2.5billion to execute and will be ready by 2027.
Thisday reports that Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state has dismissed speculations about G5 governors' deal Tinubu of the APC. It also says Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has dared the G5 that Atiku will be president no matter what they do. The paper also says that killer policeman who murdered Lagos female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem has been remanded at Ikoyi Correctional Centre till January 30.
Daily Trust reports that Nigerians now explore other African countries like Egypt, Morocco and others after Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) slammed a total visa ban on citizens of Nigeria in October 2022. The newspaper also says that troops deployed by the Nigerian military have destroyed 37 militants' camps, 1,883 bunkering sites in Niger Delta.
