December 6, (DAILY SUNRISE) — The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has reiterated that the current series of N200, N500 and N1,000 notes remain legal tender until the deadline of January 31, 2023.
The apex bank made this disclosure in a social media statement where it noted that the countdown to the deadline date is 24 days from today.
The CBN new currency note has generated a lot of side talks from the timing of the policy to the quality of the notes. Most Nigerians who have visited their banks lately complained that they are still paid with the old notes both at the counter and the ATM. Some who have felt the new currency had also complained of the quality of the notes as some say the ink washes off when immersed or cleaned with water.
