NEWSPAPER HEADLINES: Again petrol price adjusted to N185/litre to appease marketers

January 20, (DAILY SUNRISE) — The Nigerian newspaper cover pages were dominated with the reports of the lingering petrol scarcity and hike in the price of the product.

The Guardian reports that CBN has intensified sensitisation on the need for Nigerians to reject old banknotes from banks. It also reports that INEC and its stakeholders have offered Nigerians assurances on BVAS and security during the 2023 elections.
On the issue of lingering fuel scarcity and rising price which has hit N300 per litre, The Punch reports that over 1,000 fuel tankers are stucked at deports. It also said Lagos filling stations have limited their sales time to seven hours per day. The paper further reports that the Presidntial candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP is currently under fire for 'no votes, no contracts' statement he made during the party rally in Abeokuta yesterday.  
The Nation newspaper reports that the governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde and Bayo Lawal, his deputy, shunned the presidential rally of the PDP in Ibadan yesterday. The newspaper also said that the Lagos government has declared four work-free days for Lagos residents to collect their PVCs.
Daily Trust newspaper reports that Bank ATMs are still dispensing old naira notes despite CBN's directive. It said further that the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele still insists that the January 31st deadline still stands. The newspaper also reports that the Nigeria Police Force has released N13.6bn to 6,184 killed, injured officers' families.
Daily Independent newspaper reports that the CBN has tightened noose on money launderers and terrorism financiers. Amid the worries of the CBN governor's DSS saga, the paper reports that president Buhari and Emefiele met at the presidential villa. On 2023 elections, the newspaper reports that explosion has rocked the APC campaign rally in Rivers and scores were wounded.
