INEC moves collection of PVCs to wards, sets up collation centre committee for presidential poll

January 5, (DAILY SUNRISE) — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has moved the collection of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to registration areas/wards starting Friday 6th to Sunday 15th January, 2023.

“Those who are unable to collect their at their LGA offices of the Commission can do so at Registration Areas/Wards,” says INEC

According to the Commission, the exercise will thereafter revert to all the 774 INEC local government area offices starting from 16th to 22nd January.

INEC in an audio message it released via its Twitter handle warned that no person is allowed to collect PVC on behalf of another person.

It also appealed to all registered voters to visit their designated locations to collect PVCs so as to avoid the rush hour no overcrowding usually experienced towards the close of the exercise.

Collation Centre for Presidential Poll

The commission also announced that the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja will serve as the national situation room and collation centre for the 2023 general election.

INEC said it has, therefore, established two committees.

The first is the collation secretariat committee, which will be responsible for the collation of presidential results from the states, and the committee will be chaired by Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, who will be assisted by a few technical staff.

The second is the situation room and collation centre committee, which will be responsible for the preparation of the venue, seating arrangement, utilities and services, security, the accreditation of party agents, national and international observers, and the media.

Members include May Agbamuche-Mbu, national commissioner who will serve as chairperson; as well as Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, national commissioner; and Festus Okoye, national commissioner.
