Argentina's Central Bank planning to put Lionel Messi's face on their banknote

After leading a national team in a historic win in Qatar, something the country has been longing for since its last World Cup victory in 1986, Argentina’s Central Bank is reportedly considering putting Lionel Messi’s face onto a new 1000 peso banknote.

According to Dailymail, an Argentinian newspaper El Financiero, reported that the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina are eager to mark the national team’s historic win in Qatar and have been working on ideas since before the epic 4-2 shootout win in the final over France.

Report has it that Bank officials are said to favour the 1,000 peso bill as it starts with Messi’s ’10’ shirt number.

Messi led Argentina to defeat France to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986.
